How it is calculated
We count whole years, then whole months, then the remaining days. Total days is a direct subtraction:
Days = end − start (+1 if the end day is included)Leap years and different month lengths are handled.
Worked example
From 1 January 2026 to 21 October 2026: 293 days — 9 months 20 days, or 41 weeks 6 days.

Are the start and end days counted?
By default the end day is excluded. Turn on the option to include it (useful for leave and contracts).
