How it is calculated
Age is the reference date (today by default) minus the birth date: complete years first, then complete months, then remaining days.
The Hijri age uses the same method on the Hijri (Umm al-Qura) calendar. Because the Hijri year is about 11 days shorter, Hijri age gains roughly one year every 33 years.
Worked example
Someone born on 15 May 1990 is, on 21 October 2026, 36 years, 5 months and 6 days old — and over 37 in Hijri years.
